Decidim Fest is back on 4,5 and 6 November 2025, under the theme Building Technology as a Public Good, in a very special edition. This year we collaborate with the MozFest(External link), held in Barcelona from 7-9 November 2025, to organize the Barcelona Open Tech Week, an event that puts the city as the center of technology for the common good at the crossroads of democracy, technology, and digital rights.
In a world where Big Tech monopolies shape our digital lives and authoritarianism gains ground, the question of who owns, designs, and controls technology has never been more urgent. What are the technopolitical principles that ensure that a technology is open and equitable; what public policies should be promoted to ensure the sustainability of the Digital Commons; how do we “reconfigure” digital infrastructures to serve social transformation rather than corporate interests?
This year’s Decidim FEST 2025 aims to collectively imagine and build digital infrastructures that are open, democratic, and rooted in the public good. We want to ground these debates by bringing together our wonderful global community and a wide range of leading voices from the public institutions, entities and organizations from the field.
